Tools for American Cryptogram Association members

These tools are designed to enhance the recreational cryptanalysis experience for ACA members. They remove some of the tedious grunt work involved in solving a cipher, but the actual “meat” of the puzzle is still left up to the solver.

A major difference between recreational and professional code breaking is the type and amount of automation involved. In a professional environment, where salaries and benefits are involved, the use of automation is maximized. For the hobbyist, it is the challenge which is important. Some find the challenge in developing computerized solvers, while others prefer to solve the puzzles themselves. This web page supports the latter type of solver.

Disclaimer: These tools currently receive only cursory (acceptance) testing. From time to time, problems may arise. However, as these tools are only replacments for manual techniques, the ACA member is expected to be familar with the manual techniques and be able to execute them.
